National Institute of Pakistan Studies

Introduction and General Rules

The National Institute of Pakistan Studies (NIPS) offers a two years MPhil degree program. This program aims to develop a comprehensive understanding of the discipline of Pakistan Studies. It endeavours to enable the students to engage in high level teaching and conduct high quality research on major issues with special reference to Pakistan in particular and South Asian region in general. In this connection, the students and faculty of the Institute have already completed different projects and have produced various policy papers of great importance. The admissions to MPhil program are approved by the Advanced Studies and Research Board (AS & RB) of Quaid-i-Azam University.

Terms and Conditions/Eligibility Criteria

In order to be eligible for admission in the M.Phil program, a candidate is required to:

  1. Have obtained 1st Division in MA/MSc or BS.
  2. Should not have obtained 3rd Division in MA/MSc or BS
  3. In case of 3rd Division in FA/FSc, a candidate should have obtained 1st Division in both MA/MSc and BS.
  4. If a selected candidate is an employee of any organization, he/she has to produce a “No Objection Certificate” and study leave from their parent organization.

Special Note: The Institute is bound to follow future rules and regulation or any other requirements, with regard to admission into MPhil program, as indicated by the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Quaid-i-Azam University, or any other regulatory body.
