NIPS Students’ Society

The National Institute of Pakistan Studies (NIPS) has provided a platform to its students in the shape of NIPS Students’ Society (NSS) that carries out different curricular and extra-curricular activities for the grooming, skills polishing, and harmony among the students of the Institute. It was established on November 18, 2019. It has a written constitution that is comprised of 8 articles, which prescribe the purpose, rules and regulation, and working of the society. Since then, the Society is regularly working and has organised different events and various academic activities.

  1. To provide students vast exposure by arranging seminars, guest speaker session, cultural and entertainment events and various other activities such as annual dinners, field trips, bonfires etc.
  2. To provide the students a platform to lead and learn to be a great team player.
  3. To create opportunities for the students by arranging different curricular and extra-curricular activities.
  4. To facilitate fellow members in their academic and non-academic affairs for the better realization of their potential, talents and to enhance their leadership skills.
  5. To promote social interaction among the students of the Institute and to encourage them to express their views and to polish and demonstrate their skills.

Membership in the NSS shall be limited to persons who are confide students of the National Institute of Pakistan Studies (NIPS), Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad. Membership in NSS shall not be limited to persons based on race, colour, religion and gender. Any student who is an office holder or an active member of any parallel society of QAU shall have limited membership with no voting right or eligibility to be candidate of any office in NSS.

The executive body of NSS shall be formed for one full academic semester. Executive body shall consist of ten leadership roles and responsibilities. The Chairman of the society is usually from MPhil/PhD while rest of the members including President, Vice-President, General Secretary, Deputy Secretary, Joint secretary, finance secretary, information secretary, and two girls’ representatives are elected from BS students.

The first meeting (following orientation session) of the semester shall be within two weeks after starting of the regular classes. Regular meetings of NSS shall be held at least once a month. The meetings shall be arranged if it fulfils quorum of one-half (1/2) of the executive committee. The meeting shall pass any agenda only if quorum pf two-third (2/3) of the executive committee is fulfilled.

Disqualification of an Office Holder

Any NSS office holder whose dereliction of duty adversely affects the operations of the society shall be subject to disciplinary action or removal from office. A written notice or show cause notice, stating the reasons for dismissal and signed by at least three (3) active members of the executive committee must be submitted at a regularly scheduled meeting. Before the next regularly scheduled meeting, show cause notice for dismissal shall be given to the offending office holder, who should come to that regular meeting to respond to the charges levelled against him/her and clarify his/her position. In case of failure to positively respond to the changers levelled against him/her, a two-third (2/3) affirmative vote pf all active members is required to remove the office holder from the office.
